Roofing Supplies for All Conditions
Every roof needs materials that can handle harsh weather and still look clean when the job’s done. That’s why it’s important to use the right profile, thickness and finish for your build, not just whatever’s lying around.
Corrugated suits most sheds and homes, while trimdek offers a wider coverage and strong profile for patios or commercial structures. We stock galvanised, zincalume and Colorbond options to match durability with finish, along with matching fixings so everything lines up right.
Don’t overlook the extras — foam infills, roof screws, flexible flashings — as they make the difference between a quick fix and a lasting one. If you're not sure what size or profile will work best, bring in your plans or measurements. It’s easier to get it right the first time than redo a rushed job.
What roofing profile should I use for a shed?
Corrugated iron is the most common profile for residential sheds because it’s lightweight, easy to install and suits most spans and pitches. For larger spans or flatter roofs, trimdek might be a better option due to its deeper ribs and stronger structure.
Always check your span and pitch against the manufacturer’s recommendations before you choose.
How do I know what length roofing sheets to buy?
Measure the length of your roof run from ridge to gutter and add an overhang (usually around 50mm). If you're doing a pitched roof with both sides, measure each separately.
Remember to allow for overlaps between sheets, especially if the roof pitch is shallow. Buying a slightly longer sheet and trimming back is safer than coming up short.
What’s the difference between galvanised, zincalume and Colorbond roofing?
Galvanised steel is dipped in a layer of zinc for basic corrosion resistance. Zincalume is a mix of zinc and aluminium, offering better durability and longer lifespan. Colorbond is pre-painted Zincalume; it combines strength with a coloured finish that won’t peel or chip. For high-exposure areas, Colorbond or Zincalume generally last longer than plain galvanised.
